As many as 70,000 of the District government’s much-maligned condoms were returned this week by community organizations in advance of the Health Department’s distribution of brand-name substitutes.
City officials had agreed that highly publicized complaints about the mustard-yellow packets’ durability and appearance damaged their campaign to increase condom use as a front-line offense in the District’s fight against HIV/AIDS.
Questions were raised about the packets’ durability and appearance.

Damn, I wish I would have invented some vector illustration software that would automatically create images like this. I kind of like this campaign, but of course they look just like this.
I like the new JC Penney ads quite a bit. This one, titled “Heart” reminded me of a Gondry short without the Gondry.
Created by Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, each commercial seems to tell a story with some interesting motion graphics and visual effects. So far I haven’t found a common link but I like the uniqueness of each one.
So I’ve been sitting on the new LifeSavers redesign for a while since Jessica told me about it months ago. I meant to post it and then I couldn’t find a new image online. I bought a roll of spearmint LS’s so I could scan the packaging but then I moved and stuck it somewhere and couldn’t find it. Anyways, so the new LS packaging is eh. I never thought I would welcome Photoshopping with such open arms until I saw the undesign of the packaging. It leaves me a bit sour, and not so sweet. Feel free to enlarge for the full effect.

I posted a while back about the patterns that my friend Ray was creating to deal with his partner’s battle with colon cancer. Ray has uploaded some of the images via this site.
The items are available through CafePress, with proceeds going towards colon cancer research.
I wish Jim all the best in his fight and my thoughts are with he and Ray. I wish I wouldn’t have wasted all of my Jesus credits on trying to find a job. Maybe Jesus has a refund policy for unsuccessful wishes.

RAZR commercial by Michel Gondry. It’s Gondry, I think it’s impossible for me to hate it.

which apparently isn’t a whole lot these days. The new $5 bill was recently announced. It’s the same old big head bill with a completely unrelated huge purple 5 on the back. Why can’t we have modern looking well designed money? Granted the new/old Euro isn’t exactly the pinnacle of beauty and excitement, but at least they are trying. Then again I guess our currency is all about the old school and I’d probably bitch if there was something new and different because you know it would come out ugly. Apparently there are also new gold coins. Not sure what that’s all about. Gold is so 2006, unless it is photoshopped on something of course.
Oh Alicia, I haven’t seen a typography disaster like this since Gwen’s “Sweet Escape”. Actually this is infinitely worse than that even. It makes Janet’s type actually look somewhat classy and thought-out. Seriously how completely shitty can you make type look?
ANGRY LETTER GOING TO WHAT LABEL?????

I’ve always been a bit confused about the prononciation of Wacom. Is it Wack-em, Wake-um, Wahl-com? Not sure, but anyways, they have a new logo so nicely pointed out by Brandon Everlast. (Yes, it’s now part of your official name.)

UPDATE
I was provided with the image files this am so my scathing review follows.
Just so you know what you are going to be looking at, the following is a review of the Cut (or copy) & Paste Tournament held Saturday in NYC. The judging was based on: Originality, Concept, Relevance to Theme, Technical Execution, “Overall Dopeness”. I’ve removed the names to keep those involved anonymous, though you can just look at the link at the end of the post and find out who they are. Well I did use Bryan Kahrs’ name though because that is who I was there supporting.
Let’s talk some shit about the competition.
