No, not one of those toolish people on MTV–do they even have those anymore? This week I picked up D-Fuse’s book, VJ: Audio-Visual Art and VJ Culture.
Here are a few of the segments from the DVD with more info about why I like them below.

Maybe here:
Sagmeister on the left, blatant rip-off on the right.
Paula Scher
Bernard Maisner
Ok, so it’s not scripty and fancy like Scher and Maisner, and it’s not really as “street” as Sagmeister and his twin, but I’m just putting it out there.

According to some crazy fan on Reddit, someone jacked a promo video that Nine Inch Nails made for The Fragile and turned it into a poster for McDonald’s to sell their “natural and easy” goods.
Scandal scandal SCANDAL! That’s pretty much the worst rip-off I’ve seen in a looooooong time.
In the Reddit link there is one comment about the guy that was an AD for the McRib that sounds like a likely suspect. Hang the witch, hang the witch! If it’s any consolation the NIN promo is beautious.
Update:
David Carson did the original NIN artwork, there’s a little blurb on this site (which is kind of great by the way).
During a recent viewing of Antiques Roadshow I was entertained by a local yocal that brought a Hindenburg commemorative ashtray that her father received during a flight on the good ship. That’s fun and all, but it seems that there actually was a smoking area on the Hindenburg. Each person who smoked was assigned a personal asher who watched their every move to assure that no ashes went anywhere outside of the small container of water that they were given. So really, was an ashtray even appropriate if it couldn’t be used on the flight? Or was it meant to be an ironic statement? Either way, this has nothing to do with the Hindenburg but it does have something to do with another famous blimp getting a makeover.
New
Of course my friendly local Blimpie in Spanish Harlem looks like it’s straight out of 1980 so I doubt they will ever see this new logo come into play. I have to say I’m a bit surprised that they are even still in business.
As for the title of this post, take that as you will. I’m not a professional writer and if I were I would be on strike. Actually that doesn’t sound like a bad gig so maybe I’ll be considering that profession change even more.
Lookie there! I knew I wasn’t the only one obsessed with Gotham. Now it seems that Gotham can help you fight terrrizm too! But really if you are going to do something in London (like this) I think you are contractually obligated to use Meta.

Yay, the Miss Cleo Awards are out! Wait, The Clio Awards, well that’s not nearly as fun. Then again if it were the Miss Cleo Awards then all of the winners would have known the results before they were announced.
Basically they should just change the name to the Saatchi and Saatchi Awards since they seem to have swept the competition. Overall there are a few interesting things and I’m sure I would enjoy the Film and Motion section but for some reason I don’t have the patience to endure those right now. Blame my lack of sleep. So here are a few I found to be fun, and if you want you can take a gander at all of the winners go here. I’m not sure if I want to know exactly what’s happening in that first winner for Underwater World. Oh my.
Material ConneXion. Not sure if it’s open to the public but it seems like it could offer some inspiring thoughts.
UPDATE:
Not open to the public. Grace emailed and they are trade only so we can only go and stare at them through the windows and make them feel uncomfortable.

I will soon be going on my annual trip to the movies, this time to see “I Am Legend.” I only venture into the theaters once a year, and generally only to see big loud movies that aren’t the same at home. Ok, well Transformers technically was my big screen movie date but it sucked so bad that I decided that it should be forgotten and replaced. Anyhoos, there is a little snippet about how IAL was created, mainly the Times Square shot featuring the new TKTS.
There are things that annoy me on the subway every day — people with backpacks worn during rush hour on crowded trains, women with strollers that are the size of a VW Beetle, train cuddlers (I’m going to start carrying a stick to beat them down). Overall, this is the thing that annoys me the most.
In case you can’t read it:
Litter gets on the tracks and catches fire and that causes train delays that make you late aside from making trains and stations untidy because a little litter goes a long way.
Yes, it’s petty but that’s the type of person I am.
Gondry and Bjork, it’s like Oreo’s and milk. And damn if Bjork doesn’t look hot’ish. The video seems much more interesting than “Be Kind Rewind“.
